Overview

Throughout its history, Cofares has adapted to the pharmaceutical market, offering a quality service. Today, its approach in speed and efficacy is reflected in a private area that integrates several platforms, facilitating professional work. With this digital bet, Cofares strengthens its trajectory.

Challenges

Breaking the mould and understanding users from the outset

The main challenge was to design a platform that catered to a broad spectrum of pharmacists, from digital experts to those with less technological familiarity. This required an intuitive and accessible design, capable of bridging the digital divide and meeting the diverse needs of users. Persistent problems in order management were identified through user interviews. The objective was to optimise the platform to minimise errors, streamline workflow and ensure a reliable national supply of medicines and medical devices. It was crucial to introduce significant improvements that would modernise the platform without alienating users accustomed to the previous version. The challenge was to achieve a necessary ‘facelift’ while maintaining the essence of the tool and improving the user experience to increase the conversion rate.

Involvement

Making simplicity the pillar of each screen, favouring clarity and order.

I worked in a multidisciplinary team, where I initially focused on UX. Carrying out benchmarking, heuristic analysis, defining user flows and roadmaps, as well as interviewing pharmacists to understand their needs and refining the design through iterations. Later on, my role evolved to the UI side, where I created wireframes and high fidelity prototypes, as well as developed a UI Kit that later became a Design System. Teamwork by everyone was key to ensure an intuitive and efficient experience, optimising the use of the platform by pharmacists.

Steps

Two Phases, One Shared Goal

The first phase, Research and Requirements Definition, aimed to map current flows, validate needs and generate deliverables such as benchmarks, user flows and interview scripts. The second phase, Design and Implementation, focused on creating prototypes (wireframes and high fidelity mockups), developing the UI-Kit/Design System and integrating it into the platform.

Inside a modern, brightly lit pharmacy with neatly arranged shelves, two superimposed digital interfaces are displayed. The top interface presents a survey question in Spanish: "¿Qué es importante para hacer crecer tu farmacia?" (What is important to grow your pharmacy?) with multiple-choice answers related to business growth. The lower interface asks: "¿Tu farmacia es de nueva creación?" (Is your pharmacy newly created?) with "Sí" (Yes) and "No" (No) options. These interfaces appear to be part of a UX/UI design for pharmacy management or a survey tool.

Results

Exceeding expectations and laying the foundations for growth

Pharmacists found the platform easy to use, which streamlined their ordering processes and contributed to a noticeable increase in order conversion rate. The success of this first phase was so strong that the project progressed to a third stage, prompting the addition of a new design team to continue the evolution of the platform. The initial phase was instrumental in establishing a solid, user-centric design that not only met the project's initial objectives, but also paved the way for future growth and evolution.

2

Project phases

Research to detect frictions and design focused on users and technology in the pharmaceutical environment.

Heartfelt opinion

I remember this first big project like it was yesterday. It laid the foundation for what UX/UI truly meant to me and helped me discover the areas I’m most passionate about — design systems, prototyping, and variables.
